Lac Luna 23
Back in the autumn, some of the Team Carpdork lads headed over to Lac Luna. The week prior to our arrival had been tough fishing, and unfortunately, it didn’t get any easier during our stay.
We approached the lake with numerous different tactics from different swims. Despite our efforts, bites were scarce. However, we did manage to get a few bites from a baited area in the middle of the lake.
The two biggest fish we caught both came from margin spots. These spots were baited with deep sea amino steamed baits.

Full Toss @ 24lbs
The first bite of the trip came for Chris off a heavily baited area out in the middle of the lake full of Deep Sea Amino. After three nights of silent alarms, we were glad to finally get a take and put a fish on the bank. Chris was over the moon, too, as it was a new personal best. Chris had 3 more bites over the duration of the week but unfortantley none of these materialised in to fish on the bank.

Pac Man @ 43lbs 13oz
It was clear the fish were held up in and around the double swim that Chris and Ock were residing in. After a couple of bottles of cheap French wine and much deliberation, a change of tactics paid off for Ock. He dropped a solid bag of deep sea amino tight up to a semi-submerged tree in the right-hand margin, where he had been trickling bait over the past few days. Twenty minutes later, his right-hand rod peeled off, resulting in a fantastic water shot with an epic backdrop of the Luna Towers. We thought that he might be on for a few more after that, but again the alarms were silent.
The Cube @ 49lbs 4oz
The two biggest fish we caught both came from margin spots. These spots were baited with deep sea amino steamed baits, which proved to be effective.
After Ock put "Pac Man" on the bank and the alarms lay silent, it wasn't looking good at all. There wasn’t much activity out in the lake apart from our resident boat captain Steinke (he must have done 300 nautical miles in the week). We went to sleep that night, and I honestly didn’t expect another bite for any of us in the last two days.
The next morning, I was woken up by a phone call from AJ, who was halfway through playing a fish that had taken him for a ride and needed some assistance. I hurried down to the next peg, and moments later, he had landed the fish of the trip. We knew he had something special, and while we waited for Swifty and Roy to come around, we eagerly anticipated seeing what it weighed.
The fish, named "The Cube," came in at an impressive 49lbs 4oz.

The Cube was another victim of the deep sea amino. AJ offered a few handfuls of bait onto a hard spot just off the far bank. By the look of his arm, "The Cube" had eaten the lot of it before having a go at his hookbait.
We will be back
All in all, we had a fantastic week fishing at Lac Luna. Phil and Roy were great and looked after us all brilliantly, and we look forward to our return trip in October 2024.
